Final Event Details

Claro will host a YHOA Night League event at Hell Wath in Ripon on Saturday 16th November 2019.  Hell Wath is parkland on the edge of Ripon with  runnable open and tricky-at-night patches of woodland.  The long and medium courses will visit nearby streets but since there is no need to cross a busy road these are still suitable for under 16s.

For a bit of fun and to make the best of this small area we are planning a novel race format. The long and medium courses will start with two separate mass starts to a score event (i.e. take the controls in any order) of about 10 controls. When they have visited the score controls long course competitors will return to the start to collect a map for a conventional line course. The mass start for the long course will be at 5.45pm and for the medium course at 6.00pm.
We hope to fit in the starts for the short course between those times. Please make sure you are here in good time – the registration is open 5.00-6.00 and is indoors so will be warm and dry even if the outside is not. Organisers may allow late starts after the mass start but please inform us in advance if you are likely to be late. Parking is adjascent to registration. The start is 250m from registration.

ENTRIES: Entry on the day only (EOD). SportIdent (SI) punching will be used for all courses. Hire dibbers will be available. DIRECTIONS:
By car: From the A61 roundabout on the south side of Ripon follow the Harrogate Road north into Ripon. Turn left after about 700m onto Lead Lane (O-signed). At T-junction after 600m turn left onto Whitcliffe Lane and after 200m right onto Hell Wath Grove and after 100m left at the fork onto Hell Wath Lane. Parking is on the roadside here.

REGISTRATION: In the changing rooms by the football pitches at the end of Hell Wath Lane. Toilets also available here.

TERRAIN: The terrain is a mix of runnable open areas and wooded patches.

DOGS: Dogs are not permitted on the courses.

SAFETY: Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. If travelling alone, please leave your keys at registration. All competitors who start must report to download even if they retire. Whistles, head torches and full leg cover are compulsory and will be checked.
