Results

Leg 17 to 18 on the A course has been excluded from the results because of a closed but not locked gate. It was not obvious that competitors could go through the gate. Slight colour bleeding on the map in that area compounded the problem.

ENTRIES:   Entry on the day only (EOD).  SportIdent (SI) punching will be used for all courses.  Hire dibbers will be available.

DIRECTIONS:
Please use public parking.  The nearest Public Car Park (£1.20 for 4 hours) is off the A59 York Place HG5 0AD (Grid Ref SE353568).  This is 300m from Registration.  The route from this Car Park to Registration will be taped.  Please use the pedestrian crossing over the A59.
Registration is in Fysche Hall Field, Kings Road immediately to the south-west of Knaresborough Swimming Pool.
NOTE: DO NOT use the Swimming Pool car park which is solely for swimmers.  Improper use may be subject to fine as well as damaging to our cordial relations with the locals.

TERRAIN:         Typical Urban area using streets, paths and some open areas. Courses C to F will remain South of the A59, with no significant road crossings. There will be a timed out and manned crossing on the E and F courses.  A and B courses will use a larger area, including the historic town centre.

STARTS:    There is a single Start which is 400m from Registration.  The route will be taped. Control Descriptions will be available at the Start.

COURSES:

TIMINGS:

FACILITIES:   Public toilets available 300m from registration.
Water will be proved at the finish. There are also extensive facilities in Knaresborough, including the Castle, and boating on the river.

DOGS:   No dogs on courses please. However, they are acceptable on a lead at registration.

SAFETY:  Competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety.  They should obey the Highway Code when crossing roads and have due care for members of the public.  The longer courses reach into the old Knaresborough Town Centre and care should be exercised in the use of stone steps which will be slippery when wet.  Since public road crossings will be involved, Under 16’s moving from Registration to the Start and from the Finish to Registration/Download should be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

If travelling alone, please leave your keys/details at registration. All competitors who start must report to download even if they retire.  In the unlikely event of cancellation, details will be posted on the Claro website – www.claro-orienteering.org.uk.  Information can also be obtained by phoning the organiser.

PHOTOGRAPHY:  In accordance with the British Orienteering Child Welfare Policy and Procedures, the organiser of this event requires that any person wishing to engage in any video, zoom or close range photography should register their details with the organiser before carrying out any such photography.
