For those travelling without a car, a dry store will be provided for clothing etc.  It will be situated close to the Download tent so bikes will be secure.

The event location is 25 minutes walk from the bus and train stations.  Alternatively, take the number 6 bus from stand 3 at the bus station, alight at the “College Street / Harlow Moor Road” stop and then it’s a 6 minute walk north along Harlow Moor Road to the event.

DIRECTIONS:  Routes to the event are self explanatory. However, those intending to approach from the south along Harlow Moor Road  should be aware that there are roadworks at the junction of Harlow Moor Road and the B 6162 which may cause delays.

PARKING: Parking is on hardstanding on the west side of Harlow Moor Road and on surrounding residential streets.

TOILETS: There will be no toilets at this event. Please make your own arrangements en route.

COURSES:The usual night event courses will be provided: Long, Medium, Short and Beginners. ( all subject to final controlling)

YHOA NIGHT LEAGUE: This event is part of the YHOA Night League.

TERRAIN: A mixture of parkland and runnable woodland with a good path network. Some paths may not be clear on the ground due to leaf fall whilst other seasonal ones may have been trodden by walkers.  Longer courses will include a mandatory timed out road crossing. Short and Beginners are suitable for Under16s.

MAP:1:5000 scale with 5m contours for all courses; printed on waterproof paper.

CONTROL DESCRIPTIONS: Control descriptions will be printed on the map with copies available in the start lanes.

START TIMES: 5.00-6.00pm There is no Registration at this event – please proceed directly to the Start for your allocated Start window time. Note, if weather conditions mean it is not fully dark at 17:00 then the starts may be delayed slightly, if this does happen we will get you started as soon as possible but please do not crowd the start.

STARTS: There are two starts; the Beginners and Short are in iron gate field by registration and the Long and Medium courses are on the East side of Harlow Moor Road opposite the water plant entrance.

COURSES CLOSE: Please report to the finish by 7.30PM

SI DIBBER HIRE: Please collect from Download.

SIAC: The controls will be SIAC enabled. You will need to punch at the start and finish. Please punch with your dibber only and avoid touching the SI box with your hands if possible.

ENTRIES: Pre-entries only using Google Form. No entry on the day.

SAFETY: A comprehensive risk assessment has been carried out by the organiser, however competitors take part at their own risk and are responsible for their own safety. Please read the safety briefing which will be displayed at the Start and note particularly the road crossing.  Whistles, full leg cover and clothing suitable for the weather conditions are compulsory. Some form of reflective clothing is recommended. Of course you will need an adequate torch.

All competitors who start must report to download even if they retire.

In the event of cancellation, details will be posted on the Claro website – www.claro-orienteering.org.uk. Information can also be obtained by phoning the organiser. First aid kit will be available at Download. Water will not be provided at the Finish – please bring your own.

PHOTOGRAPHY: In accordance with the British Orienteering Safeguarding Procedures, the organiser of this event requires that any person wishing to engage in any video, zoom or close range photography should register their details with the organiser before carrying out any such photography. The organiser reserves the right to decline entry to any person unable to meet or abide by the organiser’s conditions. The club policy is here.
