Ramblers footpath hunt

The Ramblers are appealing for help to find all the footpaths shown on old maps but not yet registered as rights of way and shown on current maps.  This is important because we can no longer register paths after 2026.  They are asking people to go to this website, register and then use their very nice tool for comparing old and new maps and drawing in old paths not on the current map.  You choose kilometer squares to check.

I have been looking at areas in Nidderdale and have been amazed how many old paths that I found.  I have to admit that many were not very exciting – usually close to exisiting paths or going nowhere but at least a couple implied rights of way in places I would really like to get to.
