Claro run a series of orienteering events aimed at families on Saturday afternoons through the school year The dates for the current year are below, and on the Claro Events page. This series of events provides an opportunity for young people, children and novice adults to try out orienteering in safe, easy to access locations. Coaches are on hand to help you get started and improve your skills.

Claro also hold other events which families may particularly enjoy. This year there are Taster Days of Orienteering at Harlow Carr Gardens (April 5th and August 30th) and Brimham Rocks (July 30th and August 13th). Claro is also hosting a heat of the Yvette Baker Trophy where all our club juniors can represent Claro (June 2nd).

GENERAL INFORMATION (applies to most events, but see individual event details for specific info)

Registration: No need to register in advance. Just Enter on the Day (EOD), when you arrive.

Getting Started: When you arrive you will receive a “dibber” (orienteering slang for an electronic timing chip), and if you are new to orienteering, the opportunity to look at the map before you start. A Claro coach will be on hand to assist you at the start. Participants then walk to the start (which will be nearby), receive the map for their course, and start at intervals in their own time. Arrive between 1.30 and 2.30 then you will have time to do more than one course. The event will end around 3.30pm.

Costs: Children £3. Adults £4. Claro members half price,

Courses: A range of courses appropriate to each area and suitable for beginners of all ages and improving junior orienteers will be available.
