Taking into account everybody in groups and pairs, this was one of our best attended MR+s yet, with over 40 taking part. What a wonderful day it proved too, and what a great choice of venue, both in the beauty of the area and the brilliant community cafe and village hall – to be repeated! Thank you to Vicky for all your hard work. Our next MaprunPlus promises more historical interest, being based at Spofforth Castle on Sun Aug 16th, but in the meantime don’t forget the Summer Evening series (next event Wed July 1st), and the Sprint (i.e. short distance) event at Jennyfields, Harrogate on Sun Jul 19th, both great opportunities to try orienteering in its more ‘classic’ form, point to point and with specially drawn orienteering maps.

Explore magical woodland and serene pastures on the extensive public footpath network around Grewelthorpe, in NE Nidderdale. Choose your own adventure, with controls to pick up in Hackfall Woods, on Nutwith Common and along the River Ure. Follies, waterfalls, and stunning views of the Dales and Moors await!

Venue: Grewelthorpe Village Hall, Lake Terrace, Grewelthorpe, Ripon, HG4 3BU
Location: Grid ref: SE 231 761. W3W: defaults.essay.mainframe. The village hall is at the centre of the village, between the duck pond and the pub. NOTE: There is no village car park. Parking is roadside, wherever there are spaces – please exercise proper consideration and courtesy towards residents. NOTE – the footpaths of Grewelthorpe are in summer condition: all are passable but some are overgrown. Full leg cover recommended against nettles and brambles.
Times: Registration open 0915-1115. First start 0930, Last starts: 120min-1030, 90min-1100, 60min-1130.

Food and Drink: Tea, cakes and light lunches in the café at the hall, serving from 11am to 3pm.

Entries: British Orienteering members £6, non-members £7. For a guaranteed map, enter by midnight Tue 16th June. After that date, entries accepted only if a map is available. Each entry represents one phone and receives one map. Pairs or group can run together using that phone/map, or enter separately if wanting to use more.
