Hookstone Organiser comments: Thank you everybody for making this such an enjoyable occasion; it felt like a great way to finish off another successful Summer Evening Series.. This was our first Snook-O effort using PFO’s software (they invented the format), and it made a huge difference, not least for the organiser in terms of time and grief (how Quentin stayed sane with working things out at our first go a this, I do not know!), but also with the immediacy of scores and results, leading to some great discussions! The feedback and buzz was brilliant – as was said by others, it was so good having a single course which everybody could enjoy – thank you all again. Much was learned and reinforced about what club activity could and should be about! It was also great fun that so many stopped behind afterwards for a cup of tea and/or picnic, other thank yous to: the team of control collectors that meant we had everything in by 7.45; to Linda for her prescient organisation of the Scout Hut – invaluable on what seems to have been the only wet evening in the last month (!); and to 14th Harrogate Scouts for its use. Commiserations to Kerensa who was heading for a pretty decent score when she took a fall, which led to work for our excellent first aider June, and to Kerensa’s late arrival back, devastating her points total (not that this was uppermost in her mind!). I hope things are on the mend.
As a final note, given that all the controls were within a 500m radius of the start/finish, it might be interesting to note that in order to achieve a maximum break/score of 115, one would have needed to run 10.8km (straight line control to control measurement). Little wonder that even Quentin and Luke didn’t manage that!
