Conyngham Hall Regional inc Yorkshire School Champs, 29th Jun

Claro welcomes you to this summer event set in the attractive parkland surrounding Conyngham Hall, Knaresborough. A range of courses, suitable for all ages and abilities, will be available. We are also delighted to be hosting the Yorkshire Schools Championships.

YHOA School Championship rules are here. Please particularly note the following: Individuals entering the championships should make sure they enter the appropriate course and class; students may compete in an older class than their own. Any school wishing to put in a block entry should contact entries@claro-orienteering.org.uk. Pairs are eligible to compete in classes B/G3 to B/G8: with mixed age pairs, they must compete in the class of the older competitor. They will receive two maps but run on just one SI-card. Shadowing in the Championships is not permitted.

Travel
Public transport: Knaresborough station is 10 minutes walk from the event centre. There are regular direct trains from York and Leeds. There are frequent No.1 buses between Knaresborough and Harrogate which stop on the bridge at the end of the car park.
Parking: Public car park at SE345571, what3words drill.universes.outline. Cost £2.40 for 2 hours, £4 for 4 hours, but best to arrive early as it can get quite busy. There is additional on-street parking within 10 mins walk.

Timings: Enquiries open 1000, Starts 1030-1200, Courses close 1300. Prize giving will be as soon as possible after 1300 at the kiosk.

Terrain: an attractive park by the River Nidd with fields and some woodland. There are plenty of paths for the less technical courses and some trickier areas in the woods for more experienced orienteers. A newly updated map by Quentin Harding will enable the planner to use the area to the full!

Courses: After their competitive run children will be allowed (and encouraged!) to do another course for free. Please start early if you might take more than an hour or wish to run twice. Under 16s on Green must be accompanied by an adult.

Facilities: The Kiosk is a community cafe, serving a variety of hot and cold drinks and snacks. After your run, have a go at Crazy Golf and/or Pitch-and-Putt! Public toilets in the car park.
