Situated in the centre of Harrogate, Valley Gardens is a mostly very runnable mixture of park and woods – expect this to be faster than most night events. However, the western third of the area is, in places, thickly wooded with some windblown and has limited paths.

For beginners, the eastern part of the area makes for an excellent introduction to the subtle arts of night orienteering (don’t forget your headtorch)! The start and finish will be at the ‘town’ end of the park by the Sun Pavilion Cornwall Road, Harrogate HG1 2PQ with car parking on streets nearby to the north. This could also be a chance to get ahead with your Christmas shopping!

TIMES: Registration opens 1630, Starts 1700-1800. Courses close 1900.

ENTRIES: Online entries have now closed, entries on the evening only.
Seniors: Long-Short £11, Beginners £5, non-BritO members £2 extra, chip hire £1.
Juniors/Students: all courses £5, chip hire 50p.
Lost hire chips: £30.

COURSES: The Long course is for experienced night orienteers only. The course closing time will be strictly adhered to, and any competitor finishing after this time will be deemed not to have completed the course. Please see the YHOA Night League rules for eligibility and scoring in that competition.
