Claro looks forward to welcoming you to this year’s Northern Championships, to be held on Kilnsey Moor South, perhaps best known as part of the area used for Jan Kjellstrom weekend in 2016. This will be the second half of a weekend of top quality championship orienteering in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales, with Airienteers hosting the British Middle Distance Championships the day before on Danefield (Otley), further down the Wharfe valley.

Sponsorship: We are very grateful for the generous sponsorship of prizes for the Northern Championships from Str8 compasses.

Entries: Pre-entries have now closed. There will be limited entries on the day to colour-coded courses only (dependent on map availabiity).

Overview of times: Starts 1030-1300; busier courses may be extended beyond 1300. Courses close 1500, all downloads expected by 1530. Prize-giving for Northern Champs at 1500 or as soon after as possible.

Start and Finish: Far Start (courses 1-17): easy 1.8km, 90m climb. Near Start (courses 18-19, M/W10A, 12B, 10B only): few hundred metres. Finish: easy 1km.

Map: For all details see the bulletin. Routegadget copies of the most recent maps that cover the competition area can be viewed for these events: JK 2016 courses 1-10, JK 2016 other courses, Regional event 2018

Important Notes
1. Whistles and full leg cover required. Hooded waterproof jacket, hat and gloves may also be required. The area is exposed and vulnerable to sudden extreme weather, as anybody who ran at the 2016 JK will appreciate!
2. Boundaries marked on map with solid purple line MUST only be crossed at marked crossing points.
3. Professional First Aiders will be at the finish. The nearest hospital is Airedale General Hospital, Steeton, Keighley, BD20 6TD.
4, No dogs on the competition area. Dogs on leads may be exercised in the quarry. Please don’t forget to clear up any mess!
