Another Winter series is complete and we have survived the worse of the Winter’s darkness. A huge thank you to our organisers in this series, David Day, Bill Hickson, Sean Molloy, Mark David, Andrew Kelly and Vicky Bailey for entertaining us on those Tuesday evenings. Four of these organisers had not organised a MapRun before, I hope this demonstrates that it can’t be too difficult. So if you would like to give it a go next season then let us know.

I am also grateful for everyone joining in with the spirit of these events. Not only do we challenge ourselves witht the event on offer, we also share our experiences and enjoy the social post run chat on the finish line and in the pub. Thank you, it makes staging the events worthwhile.

Quentin

Event Fees: Individual events – Seniors: BOF members £3, non-members  £4; Juniors: £1. Season tickets for all 6 events – Seniors: BOF members £15, non-members £20; Juniors: £5 (i.e. 6 events for the price of 5).

Results: posted here after the event and on the results page. When entering our events your name may appear in the results section of this website or in newspaper reports.

Post-event social: each event will have a designated pub or bar for a post-event drink (and/or meal if available) – a great way of getting to meet club members!

Safety: Runners must wear hi-vis vest, jacket or other top, and be aware that courses will be crossing roads, some may be busy. A head torch is essential, as is either pen/pencil or smartphone/Garmin/Apple watch for control recording. As the events are held on public roads, event insurance requires that under-16s may only take part if accompanied by an adult.

Score events: The aim of a score event is to score as many points as possible within the time limit. All Winter Series events will have approximately 30 controls, each worth 20 points. Youwill lose 10 points for every minute or part minute you are late back!

Using Maprun: The Maprun App is available via the usual sources of apps for Android and Iphones. Go here to practise using it on one of the club’s permanently available score events, and for advice on how to use the app. Details for downloading courses for each event will be available in the ‘Next Event’ section above. Help will also be available on the night, or see enquiries below.

Enquiries: For any entries enquiries, contact Linda Kelly; for other enquiries, contact Quentin Harding.
