Event Details

Venue: Hudson Park consists of a network of old railway lines which are now open parkland in the center of Wetherby. A parkland sprint-style event has been planned (jargon-buster: ‘sprint-style’ means lots of controls in a short distance!).

Assembly: Meet at the Linton Road car park. Nearest postcode: LS22 6SS, What3Words: mugs.insurance.spoiled, OS Grid Ref: SE397483. Start times are from 2-3pm, courses close at 4pm.

Directions: If coming by car: on reaching the mini roundabout on the A661/Spofforth Hill turn into Linton Road and after 200m turn right into the Linton Road car park. The car park is immediately adjacent to the excellent foot/cycle path network along the old railway lines through Wetherby, so is easily accessible on foot or bicycle. Assembly is a 10 min walk from Wetherby Market Place (buses).

Entries: entry on the day. Children £3, Adults £4. Half-price for Claro members.

Courses: White 1.5km, Yellow 1.9km, Orange 2.7km, Light Green 3.2km (course colours show increasing technical standard, starting with easiest colour, white, which is all on paths)

Other information: The area is extensively used by the public, dog walkers, and mountain bikers – please be careful and give way where needed. Please dress appropriately and carry a safety whistle. Participants should note that there are several old railway bridges which they will need to travel both over and/or under and which link areas of parkland which are at different levels – check these carefully when planning routes as you will need to be at the correct level to progress! The Light Green course may involve route choice alongside/crossing a very quiet dead-end road – care should be taken and please always use pavements. There is no toilet at the event – the nearest public toilets are in Wetherby Town center on The Shambles (W3W: piano.calibrate.royally).

Other things to do: Why not try the Devil’s Toenail or Little Toenail mountain bike trails, or cycle on the traffic-free old railway from the car park to Spofforth (~10km return, flat hardcore)?
