Organiser’s comments:
I regularly put on Give it a go events, but as a first time organiser of a ‘big’ event I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when organising. The excellence of Claro helpers made my job simple. Thank you to all who helped out! The start team led by Mike Cope, the download team led by Andrew Kelly, the marshals, registration team, control collectors, and everyone else who pitched in on the day. Without volunteers like you events would not run as smoothly as they do and organising would be a lot harder!
A huge thank you, and well done, to Ruth Ker (Planner) and Quentin Harding (Controller) for all their efforts. Both put a lot of time into this event, getting permissions, mapping, planning etc. As I was brought in late as organiser Ruth had already arranged permissions for Community House where we had the assembly, and all the interesting (and sometimes unexpected) places you visited on your runs. I hope you agree that the downside of distance to the start/finish from Community House was outweighed by the warmth and opportunity for a cup of tea after your runs, it made an excellent assembly.
Thank you to all those who supported of the event, it wouldn’t have been possible without you:
North Yorkshire County Council, Community House, Friends Meeting House, Cedar Court Hotel, Majestic Hotel, Christ Church, West Park United Reformed Church and 5 friends of friends who have welcomed us into their spaces.
Do enter for our next event at Harrogate Army College on 15th Feb (https://www.claro-orienteering.org.uk/wp/harrogate-army-college-regional-event-long-sprint/). In partnership with BAOC, it is an exciting area, and another Ruth and Quentin special! Its sure to be exciting!
